The final conference of the Program of Creativity, Innovation and Business Idea “Ideodromio” and the Award Ceremony of the homonymous Competition for the year 2017-2018 were held on Friday, April 27th of 2018 at UCLan Cyprus’ facilities in Larnaca.
Both events were organised by the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute in cooperation with the Directorate of Secondary General and Secondary Technical and Vocational Education, CEDAR and with the support of the UCLan Cyprus, KPMG, USB Bank, and Gravity.
Professor Panikos Poutziouris, Rector of UCLan Cyprus welcomed the participants of the event followed by a speech by Mr Konstantinos Georgiou, coordinator of the Entrepreneurship department of the ministry. Mr Pagratios Vanezis from KPMG expressed the importance of such entrepreneurial initiatives. Finally, Mr Dimitris Christou, Director of Entrepreneurship in USB Bank highlighted the importance of entrepreneurial ideas and behaviours of young entrepreneurs.
A review of the Program’s actions regarding Creativity, Innovation and business ideas was followed by the officer of the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute of Cyprus, Mrs Kalypso.
During the day, the participating teams presented their posters and they promoted their business ideas while they had the opportunity to interact with other 27 student teams in a celebration of creation and inspiration, dedicated to both the innovative and the social and green entrepreneurship. Also, they had the opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion with three young and enthusiastic Cypriot entrepreneurs, Ms Andria Kannaouridou, Mrs Helen Sophocleous and Mr Christo Kakouli, who offered their experiences and expertise.
The “Ideodromio” awards were held on the same day in the categories Innovative Business Idea and Social and Green Idea after the Jury’s evaluation. The selected teams presented and supported their ideas live to the public.
The winning groups were: the «SEM Athienou Cosmetics» from the Athienou gymnasium, the «Follow Me Bag» from the gymnasium of Aglantzia, the «Neck Protection Professional – Nppro» from the 2nd Technical School of Limassol Gregory Afxendiou and the «Team4YOU» from the 1st Technical School of Nicosia.
